Street Fighter 2 World Warrior cheats

I put this topic in the wrong thread, so I'm going to put it here.

For some reason my game (Street fighter 2 World Warrior) freezes when I try to enable the cheat code called [Play with M.Bison PL1]

In the cheat file it reads as:
sf2ja:0:FF8657:08:001:Play with M. Bison PL1

All other characters can be enabled, but when I try to select the "Bosses", it freezes or resets. Why would they put that code in their if it doesn't work, does it work?

This cheat came directly from this website:

Cheat File for MAME 0.81 (Release Date: 21st April 2004)

Can someone help me?

Those cheats [play with M.Bison/Sagat/Vega/Balrog] work , but only for the player controlled by the CPU (in sf2 , for example, happens the same).
Use them when you want to practice against the bosses in hardest level.
