Double Dragon II red blood (request) + clothing change?

In DD1, knife hits and bullet hits (from Willy's machinegun) produce a little red explosion. In DD2 for some reason the explosions are white.
How about a cheat to change the color to red again?
Also, are there any codes to change the clothing colors of Billy & Jimmy? Perhaps to their classic red & blue duds (instead of blue & white)? Or the Purple & Yellow they are depicted as wearing in some early ads for Double Dragon II? In the PC version Jimmy wore gray instead of white, I wonder if that's possible...
