Idea to fix the secret characters freeze problem in MKgames

This FORUM is ONLY for posting requests for M.A.M.E. arcade cheats. The actual cheats should be posted in the M.A.M.E. "Arcade" Cheats forum. For cheat requests a 'please' would do no harm...

Idea to fix the secret characters freeze problem in MKgames

Post by omegared37 »

What if someone made a skin modifier code. This way you could change say Kitana to look and have jade's energy meter but be programmed with kitana's moves so that the game knew what the commands were and it wouldn't freeze.

Personally, I was put off of this task by a double-post, a lack of information, and knowledge of how tedious it was to track down the character sprite loading routines work in MK1.

by any chance it could be done the same way as MK1 cheat - the one that allows you to look like reptile,i mean kitana to look like jade and special moves to go through her or to convert(change) the pose of scorpion and remove his teleport and to add a grey sprite(s) and of course to have his speed (like the MK1 cheat i told you) if that could be done noob will be made alot like smoke :P :-? Lot of broken links, but I finally found it on page 5. Thank you omegared! ;)

(I grabbed 'em before bandwidth quota was exceeded!)

Easier to just copy and paste the extra cheats he did into my own cheat.dat. ;) One of us could paste the whole thing in here, but it's several pages long, so it might get annoying to read in one post (or exceed char limit).

No problem believe me I have been trying for years to find those codes. Luckily I stumbled across that thread. Remember you'll need the MK2 Challenger rom to use alot of those codes.

Yep. Had a great time messing around with them. A lot of them are pretty flakey (screw up the background with HOM or change the other player/CPU colors sometimes), but good for taking impressive looking screenshots or just for variety sake. Too bad it doesn't apply to the endings ("Reptile" winning as Sub-Zero just has green crap on his face).

It's too bad we can't get a "Full ability" Reptile in MK1. You get the green color and the speed, but you'd have to somehow bind the cheat to a key to switch the movesets. And I wish I could play as Goro.. that's been my dream for ages... oh well, I guess I have to settle for MKT! (he doesn't get his cool "stomp on your body" move!) :(

I see perhaps why they didn't give Reptile a true name... there's no letter "P" in any of the other game names! Though I guess if they did the full alphabet for the MK1 name font, maybe it is in there somewhere. Ditto for "M" so I guess "ERMAC" is out... unless you did something like Rain's fake name in UMK3 (just use another font).

The UMK3 codes on the other hand don't seem to work very often. The colors look like crap or simply don't work.

Haven't even tried the MK2 cheats yet.

I opened up the guy's cheat list and it's a total mess. He doesn't organize it at all. It's like 50 MKLA3 codes and 50 MK2Chal codes and bunches of other codes interspersed every which way. And he forgot to put spaces in in several places like with the tekken codes, etc. (anytime you see those little boxes, that should have been a carriage return on his keyboard).

I have a feeling there's some repeats in there too...

Oh well, if they release a new cheat file next month maybe it'll have some of these things in it. ;)

Thanks again.
